Testing & Servicing

Tested, certified, kept compliant.

Backed by decades of combined servicing experience, we keep your lifting and rigging equipment safe, certified and in service – on your site or ours.

– 01

Load Testing

Any lifting device requires annual re-certification. This service is offered on an on-site or off-site basis.

  • Annual Load Testing
– 02

Re-Certification & Inspection

Visual inspection of lifting tackle – hooks, slings, shackles, swivels, harnesses, plate grabs, beam clamps, crawl beams, spreader beams, drum lifters – plus lifting devices and lifting equipment.

  • 6-Monthly Visual Inspection
– 03

Product Repair & Servicing

Once defects or faults have been identified, repairs and servicing can be actioned on or offsite. Preventative maintenance and maintenance schedules to avoid breakdowns and downtime can also be compiled and managed on your behalf.

  • Preventative Maintenance

What you receive after a test

Every load-tested or re-certified piece of lifting tackle leaves the workshop or the on-site visit with three artefacts: a proof load test certificate documenting the test load applied, the date, the competent person and the asset's identification; a load tag fitted to the asset showing the Safe Working Load, the test date and the next due date; and an entry on your lifting tackle register (we can supply a register format if you don't already run one). The records satisfy SANS 10307 and Driven Machinery Regulations documentation requirements and are typically what an HSE auditor or a contractor's mobilisation pack will ask for.

On-site vs off-site testing

Slings, shackles and small portable tackle are typically tested off-site at the Mossel Bay workshop – collected or sent in, tested against the proof load, re-tagged and returned. Fixed lifting equipment (cranes, hoists, forklifts, gantries) and large bespoke tackle that can't economically come off the site is handled on-site by the test crew, scheduled on the Garden Route rotation that covers Mossel Bay, George, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Oudtshoorn. Beyond the standard 150 km service radius, on-site work is quoted job-by-job with travel and standby costs broken out. Re-certification intervals – pre-use visual, six-monthly competent-person inspection, annual proof load test, plus post-incident re-cert after any suspected overload – follow the standard SA / LEEA regime; the test crew schedules and chases the recurring intervals so nothing falls due unnoticed.

Testing & Servicing

Load testing & re-certification, explained.

What does re-certification of lifting tackle involve?

Lifting tackle is visually inspected and, where required, proof load tested against its safe working load, then issued with a current test certificate so it can remain in lawful service.

How often should lifting equipment be inspected?

As a general guide, lifting tackle is visually inspected at six-monthly intervals and load tested periodically. We can set up a preventative maintenance schedule so inspections and re-certification stay current.

Can you test equipment at our site?

Yes – annual load testing is offered on an on-site or off-site basis, so equipment that cannot easily leave your operation can still be tested and re-certified.

Which equipment do you service?

Cranes, truck cranes, forklifts, tail lifts and car lifts; chain blocks, lever hoists, gantry cranes and overhead systems; and rigging equipment including slings, shackles and fittings.
